El Fútbol Argentino está de luto. Ceferino Díaz falleció este jueves a los 53 años y la noticia golpeó con fuerza al mundo del Ascenso, especialmente a los hinchas de Olimpo de Bahía Blanca, club en el que escribió una de las páginas más importantes de su historia. Su muerte fue confirmada por medios bahienses y generó innumerables mensajes de despedida de instituciones, excompañeros e hinchas.
Ceferino Díaz, el hombre inolvidable para Olimpo
El ex jugador será recordado por su enorme actuación en el histórico ascenso del Aurinegro a la Primera División, el primero de la institución. Aquel 27 de diciembre de 2001, el equipo dirigido por Gustavo Alfaro derrotó 4-0 a Instituto en la final por el ascenso y Ceferino Díaz fue una de las grandes figuras de la jornada al convertir dos goles en una tarde que quedó grabada para siempre en la memoria de los simpatizantes de Olimpo.
Ese rendimiento lo transformó en uno de los futbolistas más queridos por el pueblo aurinegro y en un protagonista central de uno de los mayores logros deportivos del club.
Una extensa carrera en el fútbol argentino
Nació en Juan Nepomuceno Fernández, partido de Necochea y realizó una extensa trayectoria en distintas categorías del Fútbol Argentino. También vistió las camisetas de Huracán de Tres Arroyos, Almirante Brown de Arrecifes, Cipolletti, Quilmes, Argentinos Juniors, Unión de Santa Fe, Guillermo Brown de Puerto Madryn y Deportivo Quito de Ecuador, entre otros equipos.
Debutó en Defensores de Juan Nepomuceno Fernández y continuó en Jorge Newbery de Lobería. En 1993 fue parte del plantel que rompió una sequía de 25 años sin títulos al consagrarse campeón de la Liga Necochea, un logro que impulsó definitivamente su carrera hacia el fútbol profesional.
El adiós a un referente del Ascenso
Tras conocerse la triste noticia, diferentes clubes e instituciones del sur de la provincia de Buenos Aires expresaron su pesar y recordaron a Ceferino Díaz por su calidad futbolística y por el legado que dejó dentro de la cancha.
Se fue un protagonista de aquellas historias que marcaron al Ascenso argentino. Un futbolista que supo ganarse el cariño de la gente con fútbol, sacrificio y goles decisivos. En Bahía Blanca, su nombre quedará para siempre ligado a aquella inolvidable tarde en la que Olimpo alcanzó, por primera vez, la máxima categoría del fútbol argentino.
